BPW Ankara-Turkey Club was officially established on February 2006 after intensive endeavors of the founding members and joint cooperation and huge support of Ms. Gabriella Canonica, European Coordinator of BPW International (BPWI). BPW Ankara-Turkey club is the only initiative of BPWI in Turkey.

In order to present BPW Ankara Club to related public and private institutions, NGOs, media and diplomatic missions, an opening reception was held on February 11, 2006. By the intense participation from all invitees and the valuable attendance of Ms. Canonica, reception was a successful event for the introduction of the Club to the society.

In the first General Assembly of the Club, the President, Vice-Presidents, Young BPW Representative and Board of Management were elected. In following meetings, Club activities were determined according to the members’ needs by considering BPWI and BPW Europe activities. Membership conditions, short-middle and long-term priorities of the Club were settled. In this context, the short-term aim of the Club is to improve the leadership capacities of own members in their professional lives by exploring themselves and developing their abilities. To succeed this aim, a training schedule was prepared.

Till present, following activities were accomplished:
	February 2006: “Core Identity, Real and Ideal Ego Perceptions and Self Esteem” Seminar, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bulent BAYAT.
	March 2006: “History of Feminism”, Ms. Ebru DURUKAL (member of BPW Ankara-Turkey Club)
	April 2006: “Sense, Thought and Behavior Development” Seminar, Dr. Sibel CUHADAROGLU (member of BPW Ankara-Turkey Club)
	May 2006: “ Real and Ideal Ego Perceptions According to Jung Philosophy”, Applied Seminar, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ayşen GÜRCAN.
	June 2006: “Self Breast-Hatching” Applied Seminar, Prof. Dr. Nalan ELBAS (member of BPW Ankara-Turkey Club)
In future, the below-mentioned activities are planning to be done:
	September 2006: “Leadership Capacity Building” Seminar, Arzu ÖZYOL, President of BPW Ankara-Turkey Club.
	October 2006: “International Gender Equality Regimes: UN, EU and Their Implications for Turkey”, Ela GÖKALP, Vice- President of BPW Ankara-Turkey Club.
	November 2006: “Divorce: According to the New Turkish Civil Code: (including Prosperity Share Regime)” Seminar
	December 2006: “Basic Knowledge of Women Health” Seminar
	January 2007: “Team Working” Capacity Building Training Seminar
	February 2007: “Prejudices and Diversity from the Women Perspective” Seminar
	March 2007: “Stress Management“ Seminar
	April 2007: “Alternative Relaxation Techniques” Training Seminar
	May 2007: Woman Entrepreneurship (In the framework of legislation)
	June 2007: European Citizenship Awareness Raising” Training Seminar

	In middle-term, the above-mentioned activities will be diversified and opened to community. The main aim of our community trainings is to develop the capacity of working women who contributes the production processes, to provide their active participation to the decision making levels and prepare and implement projects for these aims through mission and vision of BPWI.
	In long-term, BPW Ankara Turkey club will work for strengthening women potential in the decision making mechanisms, employment and education in Turkey, in the light of BPWI’s missions and vision.

ACHIEVEMENTS & NATIONAL & INTERNATIONAL REPRESENTATIONS of BPW ANKARA TURKEY CLUB

	Attending to the Conference on “Trafficking in Women” and the General Assembly of European Women’s Lobby as an observer, on 15-17 October 2005 in London. (Although, BPW Ankara Turkey Club has not been established yet on that time, but by the support and encouragement of Ms. Gabriella Canonica, two founding members of BPW Ankara Turkey Club participated to the conference and the meeting individually.)
	Opening Reception of BPW Ankara Turkey Club on February 11, 2006 in Ankara Hilton Hotel.
	Attendance of Ms. Arzu ÖZYOL, President of BPW Ankara Turkey Club to the 50th Session of UN Commission on Status of Women on February 27- March 10 2006 in New York, upon the official invitation from the Commission.
	Ms. ÖZYOL was nominated and appointed to BPW Environment and Sustainable Development Working Committee, which is one of the nine working committees of BPWI.
	Attending to the official ceremonies of International Women’s Day (8th of March) in the Turkish Grand National Assembly and the Reception, which was held by the Minister of State of the Republic of Turkey.
	Having a working luncheon with Ms. Rebecca PATRICK, Economic Affairs Counselor of USA Embassy in Turkey on April 5, 2006 and Ms. Patrick’s visit to our Club.
	Participation of Ms. Ela GOKALP, vice-president of BPW Ankara Turkey Club to the BPW Africa Regional Congress which was held on 9-11 April 2006 in Cairo and her being a member of Legislation Committee Working Committee which is one of the nine working committees of BPWI.
	Visit of Mrs. Sharon BAR’LI SAAR, Economic Affairs Counselor of Israel Embassy to our Club and making a presentation in BPW Ankara Turkey Club’s general meeting in April 22, 2006 about the “Status of Women in Israel”
	Participation of Ms. OZYOL to the Conference of the UN Commission on Sustainable Development as a delegate, on May 1-8, 2006 in New York.
	Participation to the Reception of Israel Embassy on the occasion of the Foundation of Israel” on May 3, 2006.
	Attendance to the Meeting with parliamentarians from the Commission of Family, Elderly, Women and Youth of German Federal Parliament and making a speech on “BPW Ankara-Turkey club and Women Employment in Turkey” upon a special invitation of Embassy of Federal Republic of Germany on May 3, 2006.
	Attendance of Ms. Burcu GOGUS, Vice-President of BPW Ankara-Turkey Club, to a “Work-Shop on Family and Social Researches” upon the invitation of General Directory of Family and Social Researches, Turkish Prime Ministry.
	Increasing the number of BPW Ankara Turkey Club members to 40 from 20.
	Establishing working committees and the organization structure.
	Presentation visits to related public and private institutions, women parliamentarians, NGOs, members of media and diplomatic mission in order to introduce BPW Ankara-Turkey Club.
	Taking part in the campaign to support the election of a woman to the post of UN Secretary General by sending lobbying letters to Turkish officials; Turkish Foreign Minister, Prime Ministry and Ministry of State Responsible from Women Issues.
	Taking actively part in the “Training”, “International Relations”, “Health”, “Environment and Disaster”, “Employment& Entrepreneurship”, “Law”, “Media” Commissions of General Directory of Women Issues of Turkish Prime Ministry. In this regard, Ms. OZYOL was elected as the President of “Environement and Disaster” Committee, , Ms. GOKALP was elected as the President of “Employment& Entrepreneurship” Committee, Ms. GOGUS, was elected as the rapporteur of International Relations Committee.
	Attendance of Ms. OZYOL to BPWI European Congress on June 9-11, 2006 in Stockholm.
	Attendance to International Conference on “Struggling with Human Trafficking in Cooperation with NGOs” on June 23-24, 2006.
